Stories rooted in place, memory, and human connection.

Human-Centered Visual Storytelling

I work at the intersection of oral history, reflective interviewing, and cinematic storytelling — helping organizations preserve lived experience in ways that feel emotionally authentic, human-centered, and culturally meaningful.

Much of my work centers on the preservation of lived experience — the emotional texture, memory, and human detail that often disappear between formal archives and modern communication.

My approach is rooted in attentive listening, reflective interviewing, and creating environments where people feel comfortable speaking honestly and naturally. Rather than heavily scripted conversations, I’m interested in capturing moments of genuine presence, memory, and human connection.

I’m particularly drawn to projects involving oral history, community identity, coastal cultures, environmental stewardship, and disappearing knowledge systems — especially where storytelling can help preserve not only information, but emotional understanding.

Increasingly, I work with organizations, museums, researchers, nonprofits, and community initiatives seeking more human-centered ways of documenting and communicating lived experience.

At a time when many communities are losing living memory faster than institutions can meaningfully preserve it, I believe emotionally accessible storytelling has become both culturally important and deeply necessary.

Relationships Built on Trust

The most rewarding part of my work isn’t simply completing a film or oral history project—it’s meeting remarkable people and building relationships grounded in trust, shared purpose, and a genuine commitment to telling human stories with care.

I’m grateful for the trust people have placed in me over the years. Here are a few reflections from those I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with.

Pavel is a rare breed of craftsman, standing out in a crowded field of mass producers of largely forgettable content. He created beautiful and compelling works of art for us through video, drawing far more traffic - and interest in Rick Hansen Foundation's work - than any other form of content. A great listener, he knows how to help clients get the best out of him and the medium. Highly recommended.

We would highly recommend Pavel to others. We asked Pavel to help us create three videos for Java Group Programs - a short promotional video, a documentary and a training video. He did an amazing job and not only helped us sort out what we wanted, but went above and beyond in getting it done on schedule. He was able to capture the essence of our business and the videos are full of love and heart.

We hired Pavel based on highly positive feedbacks from his clients, some of whom I have spoken with prior to moving forward. Their praises were well deserved as Pavel truly delivered even beyond the scope of work and the vision we had wanted to see. His videos are of very professional quality and something you would more likely expect from big studios rather than an independent producer.

Places, People and Experiences That Shape My Work

Much of my life outside of work is spent in coastal and wilderness environments — fly fishing remote rivers, sea kayaking, walking shorelines, and spending time in the places and communities that have quietly shaped my perspective.

These experiences, and the people I’ve met along the way, continue to influence how I approach storytelling and interviewing: with patience, attentive listening, and deep respect for silence, presence, and the unique experiences each person carries.

I’ve increasingly come to see narrative work not simply as documentation, but as a form of careful observation — listening patiently and attentively as people share their stories, memories, and experiences in ways that feel natural, authentic, and deeply human.
